June is the time for our annual Family Picnic.
The summer has just started, the kids are out of school and you can hear sounds of laughter and fun comming from the community pool and our Famous Riverside Park that are near the Depot. It is the perfect time for us all to gather together in a nice shady spot to talk to our fellow members, newcommers and visitors and catch them up on what has happened during the last year. Early in the afternoon, we set up tables by our Eldo Steele and Tom Collins memorial park and make room for the wonderful main dishes, sides and desserts that our members will bring. Homemade icecream always tops the meal off just right. Some years the weather has chased us inside, but being on the lawn and looking back at the Depot is always a good reminder of how far we have come as a museum, how fortunate we are to have a wonderful and supportive membership and how proud we are to have saved such a historic place to show our artifacts and area history with young and old, familliar friends and new aquaintances, tour groups and those that are just passing through.
