Bobby Berger was born on June 22nd, 1945 in Halstead. His family lived in rural Halstead. He took an interest in Rodeo and qualified for the National Finals Rodeo 13 times. He won titles in bull riding in 1971 and saddle bronc riding in 1980. The winner of the PRCA championship in 1977 was based on earnings from the entire season; Bobby won the championship in Saddle bronc riding with total earnings of $25,431. In 1979 Bobby won the World Championship. He and the second place winner were only separated by $5.00. Bobby was inducted to the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs Colorado in 1990 for his Saddle Bronc Riding. Bobby Berger has gone on to have a very successful carrer outside of the rodeo world but we are very proud that Halstead is his hometown.
